The girlfriend of Celebrity Big Brother's Sam Preston has broken her silence over the couple's relationship and confirmed they have split.

Brunette Camille Aznar, 25, shied away from the Press after Preston, of Worthing band The Ordinary Boys, began flirting with fellow contestant Chantelle Houghton on the Channel 4 reality show.

But speaking in Grazia magazine yesterday she revealed she has given up hope of a reconciliation with Preston.

She said: "Even though Preston and I got engaged a week after he came out of the Big Brother house, the pressure on us was so tough we decided to call it off.

"We had to face up to the fact that we could never go back to how we were.

"It has been very difficult going through a break-up and seeing your boyfriend with another woman all over the papers.

"But I don't hold anger towards Chantelle. I'm not a victim."

Miss Aznar, a marketing assistant at Virtusales, an internet firm in Hove Technical Centre in St Joseph's Close, said she had been forced to take compassionate leave from her job because of stress since the end of Big Brother.

She describes the life she shared with Preston in a Hove seafront flat as one of "happy stability".

But the television show, in which a group of celebrities and Miss Houghton lived, sealed from reality for eight weeks, had changed everything.

Paparazzi followed the couple everywhere, they had no quality time together and Preston had changed from an Ordinary Boy into a superstar.

Miss Aznar said: "It only took a few days to realise things weren't going to work out. Preston had been through a very surreal experience but I was part of his old life.

"He went into the house as a musician and came out as a celebrity. Things became awkward between us."

Miss Aznar said seeing photos of herself in the papers that she didn't know had been taken was frightening and she hated the limelight.

She said: "I thought that it would all die down within days.

"It actually got worse.

"The only reason I'm speaking out now is so the tabloids will leave me alone.

"Even now, when a car slows down near me I panic that it's someone following me.

"The tabloids have even tried to track down my parents in France."

Preston is rumoured to be lining up a magazine deal worth £100,000 which will publicise his new romance with Miss Houghton.
