The city's three MPs should explain why they all voted for the Identity Card Bill.
The proposed ID card scheme is expensive and a complete waste of public money. It will provoke civil disobedience and won't apply to travellers, many immigrants who hold dual nationality and certainly won't apply to illegal immigrants.
Why wasn't the Liberal Democrats' suggested SEA system not debated? This would be far cheaper and more effective as it uses the National Insurance system.
With the National Health Service deeply in debt and severe cutbacks being called for, money should be found for this before money is found for the pipe dream of ID cards.
Our MPs appear like nodding donkeys, staying silent until it's time to vote then they nod for anything the Government proposes.
