Kevin Donnelly's mis-representation of the Green councillors' proposals for a renewable energy fund (Letters, February 14) belies a lack of understanding of the issues.
The proposals are intended to enable the wider adoption of microgeneration throughout the city.
It is not just a fund for the installation of individual wind turbines.
To suggest these would be used in such a way as to harm conservation areas is misleading.
Increases in energy efficiency and the innovative use of micro-generation technology will help reduce our energy consumption, ultimately lowering bills and reducing our contribution to climate change.
Putting pressure on the Government is a worthwhile measure but we also need to take action locally.
Greens aren't prepared to wait for Government largesse, especially as, under Labour, it would undoubtedly come with red tape aplenty.
-Councillor Richard Mallender, Preston Park ward (Green Party)
