For many years, The Brighton Society's Selma Montford (Letters, Feburary 15) has been a self-appointed spokesperson for the donothing, build-nowhere brigade, which oversaw Brighton's decline in the Eighties and early-Nineties.
Those of us who have been trying to boost Brighton and Hove in the 21st Century want to see affordable housing built for key workers such as nurses, firefighters, the police and teachers.
This will be the case in the developments at Brighton Marina and the King Alfred site - and these new developments will enhance the city's reputation and bring more and better jobs to the city.
My only motive for supporting the development at the marina is my passion to help the city leap forward - which it must in order to thrive.
-Simon Fanshawe chair, Brighton and Hove Economic Forum
