A 25--year-old woman accused of stabbing her mother to death has appeared in court.
Nicola Edgington is charged with murdering her 60-year-old mother on Bonfire Night last year.
Marion Edgington's body was discovered by her son Thomas, 23, and her daughter Sara, 20, in a ground-floor room of her home in Upper Close, Forest Row, near East Grinstead, on November 5.
Nicola Edgington, the mother of two young children, was wearing a white sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms when she appeared at Lewes Crown Court. She did not enter a plea to the charge during the court hearing.
Her address has been given as a night shelter in Walthamstow, East London.
She was remanded in custody by Judge Richard Brown until a further hearing on March 31. Marion Edgington, a mother-of-three, had lived at the semi-detached cottage for 12 years. She was separated from her husband and lived with a new partner.
She had retired but often volunteered to do errands for elderly people living in the village.
After her death, her daughter Sara paid tribute to her mother. She said: "Mum was perfect in every way."
