Scores of students staged a protest after a vote of no confidence in a university.
More than 60 students protested at the University of Sussex yesterday as part of the students' union's Sort Us Out campaign to get a better deal for students.
Last December the union passed a vote of no confidence in university management complaining, among other things, that many students had too few contact hours and food provision was not good enough.
Students submitted a 40-page report, detailing areas they wanted improved and asked the university to respond by February 10. The university wrote a 60-page response detailing plans already in hand for improvements and additional ones made in light of the students' request.
Tom Harle, from the union, said the students were quite encouraged, but "decided to go ahead with the protest because we want them to know we mean what we say."
A spokeswoman for the university said: "We want to work with them to address the issues raised."
