I recently read yet another letter on this page supporting the proposed changes in school admissions.
Contrary to the impression from the Letters pages, the opposition to these changes comes from all areas of the city.
The fact is, there aren't enough places in the two over-subscribed schools, Dorothy Stringer and Blatchington Mill.
The changes proposed by Brighton and Hove City Council's working group, which were rejected by the council's children, families and schools committee (CFSC), would have given certain areas of the city priority over other areas for admissions.
The CFSC has said it will look again at admissions to see if there is a fairer way for the city to reform them in 2008.
But it was correct to reject this particular proposal as it would have given advantage to certain areas at the expense of others.
Any changes must be fair to all areas, transparent and clearly modelled to assess the impact everywhere. I trust the CFSC will ensure this happens.
