I was disappointed to read Glen Ferris's review (The Argus, February 15) of James Blunt's recent gig at the Brighton Centre.
Is he mad? I, and probably the 6,000 other fans present, don't share the sentiments of his vitriolic diatribe.
So Glen doesn't like James Blunt or his music. That's his choice. But, in that case, what was the point of him doing the review? The gig was fantastic and James's voice surprised me, being far stronger live than I had expected.
As a fan of his excellent debut album, Back To Bedlam squillions of copies sold, Glen, take note - I was delighted to get the opportunity to hear its well-crafted, emotive and thought-provoking songs, live and unleashed.
James might not be truly rock and roll but he is a talented songwriter and, on Monday night's evidence, is also a great performer. He certainly isn't bland or mediocre.
As for saying he is smug, that's just crazy. Any interview with James shows he is overwhelmed by and grateful for his success.
