My daughter and I were the two women mentioned in the letter about a Brighton tearoom's harsh treatment of a woman and her young son and were delighted to have our modest act of solidarity praised by H Furlong (February 15).
We were shocked and upset at the intolerance and rudeness shown her by the tearoom's staff.
She and her friend were trying to amuse the sweet little boy but, as anyone with young children knows, toddlers can easily become bored.
How much nicer it would have been had the waiter produced a toy for him to play with while they waited, rather than evict them in such an unpleasant manner.
