Now John Prescott has decided to consider Brunswick Developments' appeal against Brighton and Hove City Council's decision to block its plans for Brighton Marina himself (The Argus, February 8), he should listen to the local electorate.
The plans were rejected by locally-elected councillors who are accountable, part of the community and, therefore, more in tune with the views of people who actually live locally.
If the Deputy Prime Minister overturns the council's decision and grants planning permission for "Croydon on Sea", there is the risk this ignorance on the part of central Government will badly backfire so that defeats similar to those in the Dunfermline and West Fyfe byelections happen in the South-East.
Is he ready to take that risk?
