Judge a band by its crowdsurfers, by its tour bus or by its guitar playing. Whatever. The Kooks rock.
By the time this packed homecoming gig ended, the mostly-young crowd were baying for more.
The quartet, who met at Brighton Institute of Music, ramped up the Concorde 2, playing most of the tunes from debut album Inside In Inside Out plus one or two new tracks.
Judging by the huge luxury tour bus sitting outside the venue, the band has made it into the big time. No expense spared there.
Certainly, they have enjoyed chart success and look set to follow that up with another large tour announced for May. The band are certainties for the festival season, too.
Special mention must also go to opening support band The On Offs, who kick-started the evening and will surely be headliners in their own right before long.
