I write regarding your article "Alleged attacker will not be prosecuted" (The Argus, February 8), a pathetic piece of journalism.
A man is accosted on his doorstep and attempts to dissuade intrusive journalists from disturbing his wife at the family home. He is then accused of assault, and lawyers and police determine, after much deliberation, there is "insufficient" evidence for a "realistic chance" of a successful prosecution.
I'd say the story was done and dusted. Justice has been served - it's clear who was in the wrong and it is not Mr Freeman.
The tone of The Argus piece following the CPS decision was therefore a disgrace and an attempt to convict Mr Freeman by media, born of disappointment with the legal system.
I feel for Mr Freeman and others who have had the Press enter their lives in such an unwelcome manner.
