Manager Garry Wilson has warned Eastbourne Borough they will face the drop if they do not start picking up points.
Borough extended their winless league run to eight games in a 2-0 defeat against leaders Weymouth at Priory Lane.
Matt Bound put the full-time outfit ahead from the penalty spot on 58 minutes after Darren Baker was adjudged to have fouled Kirk Jackson and John McGrath added a second 15 minutes from time.
Defeat leaves Borough just four points above the relegation places after fellow strugglers Newport County and Maidenhead both won.
Wilson said: "There was a gap between us and the bottom two a few weeks ago but that has closed now.
"The other teams have rallied and picked up points and we have to do the same. We have to find a method and a system to get a run together now otherwise we could go down."
Wilson had no arguments with Saturday's defeat and believes the visitors' full-time status was the key factor.
He added: "We started well and looked good for the first 20 minutes but as the game went on, they grew stronger.
"Of course it makes a difference is you are full-time and you could see that they were fit and had a lot of quality. We didn't match them at times, so we can't grumble."
