So, the direct Watford-to-Brighton rail service will cease.
It is regrettable, in the recently released document from the Department of Transport, no mention is made of the ability of the service to provide rail links to the North without the need to cross London to change termini the reason why older local people have fought to retain the service.
It would appear, too, in future only four fast trains an hour will stop at Clapham Junction. There remains in the document a possibility the Watford service might be made to terminate at East Croydon, which would certainly be better than Clapham Junction.

A total of £370 million will be spent to improve access to stations over the next ten years.
In the meantime, the Brighton and Hove Older People's Council (OPC) remains concerned about the possible loss of the service to Reading from Brighton along the Coastway West route.
