Regarding the letter about extortionate parking costs in Brighton (February 3), on December 8, I paid £32.50 for a ticket to hear the London Symphony Orchestra concert at The Dome.
I parked in the "theatre" car park in Church Street at about 5.40pm, had a meal, enjoyed the concert and returned to my car at approximately 9.45pm. My parking bill was £10.80.
Small wonder The Dome was only about three-quarters full for such a prestigious concert. Surely some reasonable parking charges could be put in place to attract concert goers to fill the auditorium?
Brighton and Hove City Council's view that everyone should take to public transport and leave their cars at home is simply not realistic.
As a single woman, I am not prepared to hang around waiting for buses at night or to walk alone in the dark from the bus stop to my home.
In addition to the exorbitant parking charges, I have queued for up to a quarter of an hour at the car park's ticket machine in order to pay.
The council needs to take prompt action to address these matters.
