As a local history enthusiast, I enjoyed reading Karen Hoy's article (The Argus, January 31), about the Regency Society's plans for the photographic collection amassed by James S Grey.
I was particularly drawn to the section regarding the West Battery cannons, sited opposite what is now the Grand Hotel and Cannon Place. Karen states the photograph is the only record of their existence.
She and other interested readers will be pleased to know they still exist at the front of Brighton station as gateposts which are easily missed when entering the building.
