Dora Bryan was lucky to have been kept for only three hours at Hollingbury custody suite (The Argus, February 5).
Once we get to the situation where individual drivers are allowed to make subjective judgments about whether they should obey a red stop light, the roads become infinitely more dangerous than they already are. And why did she not provide a breath sample?
Does she realise just how dangerous the roads in Brighton are? As a frequent pedestrian, cyclist and very occasional driver, I am becoming increasingly disturbed by the tendency of motorists to jump red lights and commit other dangerous and reckless acts.
Those with attitudes such as Ms Bryan's should be taken off the road or at least shut up and not complain when they are caught fair and square breaking laws intended for the safety of everyone.
For having to deal with people like this "national treasure", the police, for once, have my full sympathy.
