Bognor were outmuscled as they went down 2-0 away to play-off hopefuls Welling in Conference south.
Despite dominating possession, the Rocks had little to show other than the welcome return of Luke Nightingale after being out for almost four months through injury.
The Rocks fell behind in the sixth minute when Matt Bodkin was allowed to turn from a throw-in before curling an effort into the far corner of the net.
The hosts should have been 2-0 up on 15 minutes when Danny Kedwell rose at the near post only for his header to fly across goal and wide.
Just before the half-hour mark a mistake in the Bognor defense presented the ball to James Pinnock, who was only denied by a fine save from Craig Stoner.
Bognor would have equalised just before the break but for home keeper Jamie Turner who denied Richard Hudson at his near post.
The Rocks huffed and puffed but had little to show as the hosts sat deep and soaked up the pressure.
To make matters worse the game was all but finished in the 83rd minute when substitute Steve Perkins headed home a Jamie Day cross at the near post.
