I like Councillor Williams' suggestions for improvements to the St James's Street area which is already known as the "gay village".
I came back from a trip to Canada a couple of years ago and thought it would be wonderful if Brighton could emulate Davy Street, Vancouver - flags hanging from lamp posts, an array of colours, and tourists with their cameras out really enjoying the stroll along the avenue.
There was nothing tacky on display but we all knew we were in the gay quarter and it was a great feeling.
St James's Street would definitely benefit from better street lighting, which would enhance public safety for residents and visitors alike.
At present it is a main bus route, cars scramble for parking and the street has very little character. If the area was more attractive - a pedestrian zone with seating and continental cafes - I'm sure more people would head for that part of town to shop and have a bite to eat.
Councillor Williams' suggestions could be good for residents, traders and visitors.
