The melancholy of Clogs' music combined with the playing of The Books made for an intriguing evening.
Clogs' guitar, subtle bassoon, masterful percussion - xylophone, conventional drumkit played most unconventionally, and steel drum - and outr violin and viola playing create a superbly integrated, compelling sound.
The Books have added film samples to their soundscape collection and the result is distracting . You tend to watch instead of listening.
However, with voices, cello, guitar and at one point a bass guitar duet, they played effectively over pre-recorded soundscapes.
When the two groups merged, the integration was less tight but it was nevertheless a fascinating experiment.
I join the artists in thanking Guy Morley of the Dome for organising this tour and making such interesting music available here.
