Albion manager Mark McGhee revealed today that Mark McCammon had already been transfer listed before his surprise contribution to a radio phone-in.
McGhee has accused the out-of-favour forward of naivety and confirmed his future remains away from the club.
McCammon rang BBC Southern Counties Radio on Tuesday night, following the Seagulls' 0-0 home draw against Burnley.
He wanted to defend himself against a claim by presenter Ian Hart that he was not worth a place in the team.
McCammon went on to criticise McGhee, supporters and the service to his fellow strikers.
McGhee said: "I believe there is a place for phone-ins but they are predominately for disgruntled fans to voice their opinions and they serve a purpose for that.
"There is no need for players or us to listen to it or be perturbed by anything they hear on it.
"Mark McCammon had already been placed on the transfer list and that doesn't change.
"I think Mark was naive in getting involved and, given that he has, nothing changes. It is time for Mark to leave the club."
