It was with much sadness I read of the death of the animal rights campaigner Rena Collins (The Argus, December 31).
It was my privilege to have known Rena for many years and I was aware of her work for animal rights.
Her contribution to the Christian Consultative Council for Animal Welfare, which she served on for many years, was invaluable and mentioned by its then chairman the Dean of Westminster, Reverend Edward Carpenter.
Rena will be sadly missed by her friends and the many animals she fought for, especially those involved in commercial abuse, be it in vivisection laboratories
or factory farms.
Rena fought all her life for those who had no voice and her friends will, I know, continue to campaign for the beliefs she held so dear.
