Coldcut are dance music's Renaissance men. Boffins with an eternal grin on their faces, Matt Black and Jon More flirt with the avant garde without ever losing sight of their acute pop sensibility.

The pair released the UK's first sample-built record, Say Kids What Time Is It?, back in 1987, before going on to conquer the charts with a series of pop-house hits.

Tiring of the endless compromises which came with life on a major label, a trip to Japan inspired the boys to set up their own imprint, the legendary Ninja Tune. It and its sister labels have since given the world Mr Scruff, Herbaliser, Roots Manuva, Ty and a host of others.

Matt and Jon have now confounded expectations once again by trying their hands at traditional songwriting on their new album Sound Mirrors.

A typically eclectic collection, collaborators on the record include Jon Spencer, Robert Owens and Roots Manuva.

One of the album's other guests, indie hip-hop maestro Mike Ladd (Infesticons/Majesticons), will be joining Coldcut for this live show.

Their current tour incorporates the My CCTV project, where punters are invited to bring along camera phones and DVD cameras and film any aspect of the gig. You can send them the footage by using one of the bespoke Bluetooth areas at the show or by emailing their website.

All footage will then be uploaded and streamed at coldcut.net, with weekly prizes to be won. The best clips will form part of a documentary on their Sound Mirrors DVD, out in the summer.
