So Neil Commin, the lead planning officer for Lewes District Council (LDC), has announced: "Lewes will not have any liability for costs" for the appeal against the proposed Falmer stadium (The Argus, January 6).
Perhaps he would like to confer with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, which confirmed Lewes would be liable for costs. The legal advisory teams also confirmed Lewes would be liable.
In light of this, Lewes District's council tax payers may be getting worried about potential rising costs which could be incurred just so a vocal minority can protect the snob value of living in a village - albeit one with a concrete university overlooking it and a main road running through it.
It's time for LDC step back and consider what its role should be - to represent the few or the majority?
