"As bloody as it gets." That's how director David Oyelowo describes Webster's The White Devil, a Jacobean revenge tragedy full of sex and violence which, for the next three weeks, will be getting a radical updating.
Featuring a local cast gleaned from the RSC, West End and Broadway, the first professional production from Brighton's InService (the company responsible for the recent success of the Brighton Youth Theatre) promises world-class acting and boasts the directorial debut of Oyelowo.
The star of BBC Spy drama Spooks, who came to fame as the RSC's first-ever black English King, he has re-written Webster's tale of adultery and murder in the Italian court, changing the sex of key characters and setting it in a Sandhurst-like military world.
Starts 7.30pm with Sat mats at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £12.50/£5, call 01273 709709.
