Yet again, local businesses aren't showing their appreciation towards the people of Brighton and are refusing to spend some of their profits on Christmas lights.
I remember in the Fifties, Brighton had a fantastic display in North Street and Western Road.
The tradition used to be that Brighton inherited London's Regent Street lights from the previous year and this attracted people from far afield, who would make a special shopping trip to the town.
Whatever happened to this commendable arrangement?
It showed gratitude towards customers after a year of patronage of Brighton's local shops and stores.
I can't remember any businesses replying to previous correspondence in The Argus on this subject in previous years.
I would like managers of local shops to explain the lack of lights.
