Thank you for printing our letter about the plans for Parking and charges in Stanmer Park (October 27).

The accompanying picture was of Stanmer House, not the farmhouse itself, which is situated on the other side of the church, on the left-hand side as you enter the village.

Stanmer House is indeed boarded up and has been leased by Brighton and Hove City Council to Cherrywood Investments, headed by Mike Holland.

It has applied to put seven town houses behind Stanmer House and to convert the stables into accommodation for disabled children.

Parking in front of the house will be for six spaces and only for house events - no surprise there.

It is important users of Stanmer Park - which must include some Albion fans - are made aware of how much impact a stadium at Falmer will have on Stanmer Park.

For example, the 100 parking spaces in the Dukes car park area will go to make way for a link road (inside the park) to the University of Sussex.

The council does not appear to have any plans to replace them, so reducing the number of parking spaces to 225.

Friends of Stanmer (FoS) print a very good newsletter, copies of which are available in the cafe there for 50p. Full membership of FoS is a reasonable £3, or £4 for families.

If people want to contact councillors about the above matters, letters should be sent to Kings House, Grand Parade, Hove BN3 2LS.
