I was one of the first pupils to start at Nevill School, now Blatchington Mill school, in 1958.
Recently, I was given several old cine films of some of the school's first events - theatre productions, Christmas cake-making, sports days, athletics and swimming galas, as well as events at the greyhound stadium, including a pageant for the Queen's visit.
There are also films from the first ten years of the school, of school trips abroad, including to Holland, Switzerland and Austria.
These films have been accepted by the South East Film and Video Archive and converted to video.
They are available to watch at the centre, at the University of Brighton, Grand Parade. Its phone number is 01273 643213. The films' reference number is D854.
With retirement now on the horizon for many of my fellow pupils, perhaps this is a good time to advertise these social history films.
There are also copies available to borrow and watch at home.
