I wish to clarify a couple of points raised by Dave Tyrrell (Letters, October 31) about Patcham Court Farm being considered as one of two park-and-ride sites.
The Farm Business Tenancy referred to is a rolling contract, renewable each September.
To maintain flexibility for Brighton and Hove City Council in the event of Patcham Court Farm being chosen as the preferred park-and-ride site at December's policy and resource committee (PRC) meeting, a decision was made last month not to automatically renew it.
The tenant has been informed why this decision was taken and it was agreed to revisit the situation as soon as possible after December.
Secondly, Terence O'Rourke is a planning consultancy, not a landscape design architects' practice.
It has been commissioned, along with Peter Brett Associates, to help the council assess the impact of a park-and-ride site at Braypool and Patcham Court Farm.
These expert opinions will help the PRC make an informed decision as to which, if either site, is the council's preferred park-and-ride location.
As Terence O'Rourke is helping gather information, it is necessary to appoint it prior to that site decision being made.
