I agree with Councillor Peter Willows (Letters, October 29) it is a great shame David Courtney has decided to abandon his dream of Brighton having a unique transport system - but I do not think his dream collapsed.
Reading between the lines, I would say he has become disillusioned with the city council's inability to reach any decision over the past four years to take up, or at least consider, his proposals.
As I understood it, the proposed monorail (from the Pier to the Marina) was to be privately financed and the only thing requested from the council was the rights to have footholds for this, along the same stretch of beach as the Volks railway.
Therefore, for the council to indicate this proposal was turned down because of "lack of the financial information received" would seem incorrect.
I only hope David has not lost his enthusiasm in his efforts to bring the monorail to Brighton but has just put it to one side until sanity prevails.
