Graham Rix is one of the eight candidates in the running for the manager's job at Crawley.

The former Arsenal and England midfielder is believed to have been interviewed by the Conference club on Wednesday.

Rix, 48, was a coach at Chelsea under Gianluca Vialli and had unsuccessful spells as manager of Portsmouth and Oxford.

He helped Pompey avoid relegation from what is now the Championship in 2001 but was sacked six months into the following season after a poor run of results. Rix was only in charge of Oxford for eight months last year and left by mutual consent with the Us fourth bottom in League Two.

Former Northern Ireland international Jimmy Quinn, who guided Shrewsbury to the Conference title last year, is also thought to be one of the front-runners.
