Park is about an urban oasis, a place of refuge from the daily grind where the lives of eight characters unfold to music on stage.
Young lovers take off their clothes to wrestle naked in a historic fountain, a graffiti artist sprays his story and a flagwaving thug rants his age-old political beliefs. A busker finds his only appreciative audience in a bag lady and an office worker quietly eats lunch.
Their unique stories intertwine to create a modern-day fairy tale which is sharp, funny and cruel.
The audience is warned about strong language and there is a degree of nudity as the characters play, fight, fall in love and generally learn to survive.
Enhanced by funky music and beautifully detailed movement choreographed by Jasmin Vardimon, the production offers a fresh insight on modern life.
Vardimon has won a series of awards for her work, which has become known for its dark humour and characterbased portrayals.
Most of her theatre productions revolve around observations of human behaviour and social definitions of deviancy and morality.
Born and brought up on a Kibbutz in central Israel, at 18, Vardimon did two years' compulsory military service before joining the Kibbutz Dance Company of Israel, one of Israel's biggest dance companies.
She won a British Council On the Way to London choreography award in 1995 and moved to London in 1997 to set up her own dance company.
Vardimon won the prestigious Jerwood Award for Choreography in 2000 and was nominated for the National Dance Awards Best Female Artist award in 2003. Park was premiered in Lichfield in February 2005.
