At long last, city-wide bylaws are to be reviewed covering football matches on Hove Lawns, many of which are organised, with players coming in from outside our city.
The review will also cover barbecues and bonfires on the beach.
Along with cyclists ignoring the special lanes, designated for them at great expense, and preferring to dodge the pedestrians on the promenade, these issues have prompted the majority of complaints sent to me since I became a councillor
in May 2003.
My repeated requests for action to be taken have been ignored until now.
I would point out, however, that unless the council employs more enforcement officers, new bylaws will be a waste of time.
We already have bylaws which are completely ignored, because they are not enforced.
It is a shame that only because of several serious accidents the council is now taking the matter seriously.
