More than 100 landlords, doormen and police officers launched a scheme to crack down on alcohol-related violence by dishing out football-style yellow and red cards.
Licensees and officers gathered on Brighton seafront with the cards to mark the start of campaign.
Troublemakers in pubs and clubs will be served with yellow cards as a warning about their behaviour and their details passed to the Business Crime Reduction Partnership and Sussex Police.
After three cards, persistent offenders will be banned from pubs and clubs.
Their photos will be captured on CCTV and circulated around the city's nightspots.
Breaching the ban could result in an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.
