Fair play to the Green Party for accepting John Prescott's decision to approve the community stadium near Falmer station (The Argus, October 29).
Councillor Keith Taylor, the party's convenor on Brighton and Hove City Council, said: "We are pleased the fans will get a local stadium and accept the decision John Prescott has made.
"There is still much work to do before the project can go ahead, notably around ensuring minimal impact on the countryside and that adequate public transport services are provided. We must also make sure that if taxpayers' assets are invested in the club, our investments are both safe and sound.
"The Greens will play a very active role in these processes."
Albion chairman Dick Knight should also be congratulated for offering "the hand of friendship" to residents in the village part of Falmer.
Many of those residents are clearly disappointed by Mr Prescott's decision but they should be encouraged by the magnanimous attitude of Councillor Taylor and Mr Knight.
If even the Green Party can accept the stadium and work to make it as successful as possible, I hope residents will be able to accept it too.
The stadium will set new standards for sustainable transport and not have the impact some people fear.
Just ask the Withdean residents who fought a similar campaign seven years ago.
