We were disappointed to read the letter, "Pricey parking" (October 27).
Over the past nine years, various store managers at Somerfield Newhaven have tried to purchase the council-owned car park adjacent to our store with no success.
To allow customers to shop with us and park next to the store we offer to pay the parking charge for this car park (75p) of anyone who spends more than £5 with us in one transaction - there is a one-hour parking limit on this.
When a parking pass is presented in-store, we exchange this for a parking voucher to redeem at the pay booth, enabling the customer to exit the car park.
There is a poster outside our store advertising this system and the car park also has signs up advertising the 75p cost of the parking charge.
