I was a big fan of Phil Starr, who died recently.
Phil did a number of personal appearance for me at charity events. He was always happy to walk through the centre of Brighton wearing all his glitter and glitz, to whichever venue the event was at.
He made me laugh so much every time I saw him perform that I used to return home with an absolute glow, having left my troubles behind. Watching him was the best tonic you could have.
He also had fabulous legs and when dressed to the nines, either in the alternative pantomime or during his act at many of Brighton's clubs, he was a professional trouper who never kept his audience waiting.
I only had to look at his cheeky grin and I felt brilliant.
Sadly, this twinkling Starr is no more. I had booked him for our office Christmas party but fond memories prevail. He won't be forgotten, not least because his good friend Maisie Trollette (Dave Raven) has stepped into the breach.
We will raise a glass to Phil to say thank you for being a leading light on the drag queen circuit and for brightening up our lives.
