While feeling relieved and excited that the Albion's Falmer campaign has been successful, I can also sympathise to some extent with the reaction of those who are opposed to a stadium being built there.
However, Championship League football aside for a while, I wish the public would realise the value of the club from the community angle - particularly its work with a group of youngsters with special needs.
During the interval at Withdean, this group were recently presented with medals for their success in a football competition which they had won comfortably.
With their medals around their necks and waving joyously, they paraded around the athletics track to rapturous applause from the fans.
The proud, beaming smiles on those youngsters' faces were a joy to see and the Albion is to be congratulated for creating opportunities to compete and taste success.
This is just one side to our club which gets so little publicity but proves how vital it was that the club did not fold - such was the danger without a site for a new stadium.
Congratulations to Dick Knight and Martin Perry and a special vote of thanks to Paul Samrah for his committed leadership of the fans' campaign.
A final note to Dick: Please do not price me out at the new stadium. After more than 60 years through thick and thin, I should hate not to be able to continue to support my team.
