If Brighton and Hove Albion were playing regular football at home, in a new stadium, there is no doubt their home results would improve, as manager Mark McGee has rightly pointed out (The Argus, October 20).
The long delay over a final decision has cost the Albion precious league points.
The Seagulls expect to hear at the end of this month whether they have the go-ahead to build a new stadium at Falmer.
I hope Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott doesn't prolong this wait any longer and makes a positive decision.
The way the team responded to the supportive atmosphere of the 22,449 fans at the recent game against archrivals Crystal Palace shows they would thrive in bigger and better surroundings.
The Albion have a better away record this season than at home, having taken points off Leicester, Derby and Leeds. Given the opportunity to play in a big stadium at home, the players and fans would rise to the occasion.
The fans do their best to create an atmosphere at Withdean but it is almost impossible.
