Former Tottenham defender Dean Austin is thought to be among the front runners for the vacant manager's position at Crawley Town.
Austin is believed to have been at the Broadfield Stadium last Saturday to watch Reds' FA Cup defeat against Braintree.
The 35-year-old, who also played for Crystal Palace and Woking, is keen to get back into management after being sacked by Farnborough last February.
He was originally appointed director of football at Cherrywood Road in June last year, before taking over as boss the following month.
Farnborough won five of his 31 league games in charge and were relegated at the end of the season.
Another surprise contender could be Oxford United boss Brian Talbot. The former Arsenal midfielder is believed to be unhappy at the Kassam Stadium, despite the Us being seventh in League Two.
Talbot was in charge of Rushden and Diamonds when they were promoted to the Football League as Conference champions in 2001.
