The Argus has recently shown two artists' impressions of the proposed Community (football) Stadium at Falmer and Gehry's King Alfred complex.
It's a safe bet both impressions were produced by those in favour of the developments.
The stadium is depicted nestling in sylvan glade, with no indication of the infrastructure which will accompany it.
For a 22,000-seat stadium, even if park-and-ride is used by about 5,000 spectators, after the final whistle, the remaining spectators would expect be taken away promptly. That equates to about 60 buses.
Can we have an impression of the whole site, based on the complete stadium infrastructure? I doubt it.
As for the King Alfred, we have only seen the view from the north, where only one building is casting a shadow.
The north elevations should be shown in shadow and the towers' shadows would stretch over the in-land buildings nearby. In winter, on a sunny day, the shadows will be double the height of the towers.
The only consolation for the poor residents living around it is that they won't need sundials in their gardens.
Has anyone considered the rule of ancient lights?
