I agree with Peter Allen and Elizabeth Taylor (Letters, October 21), who ask for the humane treatment birds and better living conditions for them.
Recently, The Argus ran a story about Snowy, a highly-intelligent chicken, owned by seven-year-old Georgia Robson (October 7).
It could do an obstacle course, ride a pony and balance on the handlebars of Georgia's bike, which shows how intelligent chickens are.
To combat avian flu, migratory birds may be killed on arrival in the UK.
With so many birds already in decline, this is bad news.
Through greed and the abuse of animals, bird flu is partly man made, as is climate change, polluted and over-fished seas and precious habitats threatened by "development". Humans will be the losers and the final victims.
