Richard Pacquette hit the only goal of the game for the second time in four days as Worthing beat Folkestone Invicta 1-0 in the Ryman premier division.
The Rebels were already down to ten men when Pacquette tapped home in the closing stages after substitute Jamie Brotherton's shot had been parried.
Skipper Marc Cable was sent off midway through the half for violent conduct following a melee in the visitors' goalmouth - but the mild-mannered Cable pleaded his innocence afterwards.
Joint manager Danny Bloor said: "Marc swears he did nothing but he will probably get a four-game ban now.
"That is three clean sheets in a row which is something we have tried to focus on."
Injury-ravaged Horsham battled out an excellent 3-0 win at home to Cray Wanderers in division one.
With five players absent through injury and two playing with the flu, the Hornets' makeshift side dominated from start to finish.
They took the lead in the 52nd minute when Jamie Taylor broke down the left and crossed for Matt Geard to drill home at the second attempt.
It was 2-0 in the 56th minute when Taylor's cross from the right was met by Geard who stooped to head home his second from six yards.
Taylor made it 3-0 on 62 minutes. After being played clean through, the striker was upended by Cray keeper Steven Northwood outside the area but the referee played the advantage as Taylor got to his feet and slotted the loose ball into the empty net.
Adam Burton and Mark Cooper got the goals as Wick beat Chichester 2-0 in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup.
