Nick is an English gap year student exploring what Tangier has to offer. In a cafe he meets an American girl Nadine before both get caught up in a shoot-out with drug dealers and find themselves holed up in a hotel with a case containing $200,000.
From then on Nick is chased by criminals, the police and even the CIA.
Bullets fly across the Glyndebourne stage which is littered with dead bodies.
Tangier Tatto is billed as an operatic thriller, although the music is more poperatic - where minimalism meets the sounds of Arabia with some hip-hop.
A new piece which will help bring in a younger audience while not offending traditionalists.
