I regularly walk, hop, skip and jump from Saltdean to Rottingdean via the Whiteways, a scenic public footpath, with my three-year-old son.
With the sun shining, views of the countryside and Rottingdean windmill overlooking the sea,
it should be wonderful.
Instead, we always have to play "dodge the dog poo", as you can't take two steps without stumbling over, and sometimes on to, yet another pile.
Getting it off your shoes is particularly unpleasant. Cleaning pushchair wheels is even worse.
People who allow their dogs to use the Whiteways as one, big canine toilet should feel ashamed of themselves, especially when reading the following.
Last week, on our regular walk, I observed something which will stay with me forever.
An elderly blind man, with his guide dog, had his hand in a plastic bag and was attempting to find his dog's doings (which he successfully did).
Then he stood to one side to allow us to pass and cheerily went on his way.
If an individual, who has no sight, can pick up his dog's leftovers, those who are lucky enough to have their sight have no excuse but to follow his example.
