A Kosovar couple who lost their asylum claim could be forcibly removed from Britain.
Fred Gurraj and his wife Donina Lunaj, who have lived in St Leonards for six years, may be ejected by immigration officials.
The pair have a 13-week-old son and have been appealing against the decision to refuse them refugee status.
But so far they have not been successful and, although it will not discuss individual cases, the Home Office has said people in their position can expect to be deported.
Brett McLean, of Seaside Road, a friend of the couple, said things were becoming increasingly difficult for them.
He said they had written to the Home Office asking it to reverse its decision and they were expecting to hear back within a few days.
Fred, 33, has been fired from his job in a frozen food factory because of the adverse publicity.
He continues to work as a builder. Michael Foster, MP for Hastings and Rye, has recommended that Fred and Donina leave the country and apply for re-entry if they wish.
