Grime - it is the stuff of musical nightmares.
Frantic beats, MCs performing at dizzying speeds, describing urban life in its darkest detail.
Kano is one of the recent acts to break through from the rave scene to win a record deal, a debut album and a MOBO award.
It was his younger fans who turned out to cheer Kano on, as he performed tracks from his album Home Sweet Home to deafening support from the start of every staccato opening.
His performance was confident and clear, despite the speed of the lyrics, and - occasionally joined by a backup crew - Kano appeared at moments to be close to tearing the roof off the building.
But it was as a solo act on the tracks which moved away from their grime roots where Kano most stood out.
Chart-topper Nite Nite and Sign's In Life were just two of the songs which pointed to the potential behind the grime for this promising performer.
