It was with horror that I read patients' notes are being sent to South Africa to be typed up because there are too few medical secretaries here (The Argus, October 11).

How can this save Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust £150,000 per year?

Perhaps if the powers-that-be increased the salaries of medical secretaries, they would have more applicants for the posts.

I think it is scandalous. There must be many people in this country who would be pleased to be employed as a medical secretary.

It was my chosen profession for more than 50 years and I loved every minute of it.
