The effect of climate change on water supplies is to be investigated.
West Sussex County Council is to send out a fact-finding team to Weir Wood and Ardingly reservoirs.
Afterwards, there will be a meeting about the future of resources.
Members of the strategic environmental services select committee will hear from, and be able to question, water company representatives and an expert on climate change.
The meeting is open to the public and will take place at The Martlets Hall, Burgess Hill, on Wednesday, October 26, at 11.30am.
Weir Wood is managed by Southern Water and Ardingly by South East Water. At both locations, managers will give an insight into the main issues affecting their operation.
Speakers will include representatives from Southern Water, South East Water, Portsmouth Water and the Environment Agency and climate change expert Professor Nigel Arnell, head of the department of geography at Southampton University.
