Most of you will already be aware of this but, just in case, please note: Brendan Benson sounds nothing like his long-time friend and early champion Jack White.
He is in fact a power-pop artist who owes more to Teenage Fanclub than Muddy Waters.
This year's The Alternative To Love album, though warmly greeted by the critics, was generally not thought to measure up to his 2003 classic, Lapalco. Benson's songs tend to be growers, though, so such opinions are likely to be revised in time.
Benson and White have been working together intermittently over the past few years. An album is now ready for release which, when it finally sees the light of day, should take Benson away from the backwaters of cult status and into the realms of a worldwide star.
Starts 6.30pm (early show). Tickets cost 11pm. Call 01273 673311.
